The AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens features Nikon`s Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass, Silent Wave Motor (SWM) and enhanced Vibration Reduction (VRII) to ensure the best images. Optics have also been perfected for use with both Nikon DX format digital and 35mm film SLR cameras. The Zoom-Nikkor lens offers 70-300mm (4.3x) zoom performance, and is suitable for various telephoto shooting opportunities, particularly in sports, nature and wildlife photography. When used with a Nikon DX format digital SLR, the picture angle is equivalent to what would be experienced with a 105-450mm lens on a 35mm. SLR Advanced Nikon engineering has given rise to a compact lightweight lens design that offers outstanding optical performance and excellent handling characteristics. The new Nikon Vibration Reduction (VRII) system enables users to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower* than would otherwise be possible.

Bang for the buck!
Pros: extreme optical quality, excellent construction, includes case and integrated lens hood Cons: excellent price point vs its bigger brother the F/2.8...but still expensive. Lens collar Bottom Line: Nikon 70-300 A New Version of an Old Standby
Pros: Faster, ED glass, lighter, cheaper Cons: No rotating tripod collar Bottom Line: Good compliment for the D70 and D50
Pros: Inexpensive, wide range of focal lengths, good performance for the money. Cons: Not very rugged, no direct manual control on older Nikons. Great Versatility
Pros: Fast, light, portable! Cons: Not extremely heavy duty, be careful in transport Hawkgenes
Pros: Excellent resolution and contrast. Robust design but with a relatively light construction. Cons: Tough enough for hobby use, but probably not robust enough for professional use. Boat anchor
Pros: Price is low for a lens that covers this range. Cons: It has ED glass but it doesn't pay off Bottom Line: Didn't expect a lot, but got even less
Pros: Light, inexpensive, relatively small Cons: Very poor AF (constantly hunts), lots of chromatic aberration Bottom Line: Not worth the money at all
Pros: Better built than other 70-300 models at the moment. Cons: Silly price for what you get. NO macro mode. Bottom Line: |
